June Updates and News
- The invoices for this month will include work we did in April and May. We got an early start to the season, but only had a couple cuts in April.
- It has been dry for a while, we have not had much rain. It does not look like things are going to change for a few weeks. We have dried up early this year, and the lawns are looking peaked. This is my reminder that the best thing you can do for your lawn during the dry times is to water your lawn. You do not have to go crazy and water every day for hours at a time, and a simple hose and oscillating sprinkler works as well as an inground system. Three to 4 times a week, for 20-30 minutes is all it really takes. Enough to get water into the ground to the roots of the grass plants. Grass will go dormant during dry times, it's a natural defense. The key is to keep water to the roots, so that the plant survives the dry times and can come back when things cool down and the rains return. If you are spending valuable money on a fertilizing service, it does not make sense to neglect to water. The fertilizers and weed treatments will not work if your lawn goes dormant and dies during the dry season. It is a lot less expensive to keep the grass alive with watering now than trying to repair it in the fall, especially with the cost of seed right now.
- As a reminder, we do offer landscape and gardening services as well as the maintenance work. Bush trimming, minor tree trimming, garden weeding, planting. We do bed edging/trenching, installing rock borders, metal garden edging, hardscaping. After this past winter's ice storms, we are experts at brush cleanup and removal, and I know there are piles left from the winter storms. We specialize in make overs of over grown garden areas, and our goal is always to simplify and make garden spaces simpler to maintain. And most importantly, we deliver and install MULCH! All colors and varieties. So far this spring we have delivered and installed almost 200 yards of mulch, and we are itching to do more. Give me a call or drop me an email about the services we offer!
- As we come into summer I will be doing early sign up for leaf cleanup/removal services this fall. We have cut down on our customer base for leaves significantly over the past few years, and I anticipate being limited again this fall. It will be necessary to sign up in advance again this season. Be on the lookout for renewal/signup info later this month.
- TJs prefers to email your invoices and eliminate all the wasted paper and envelopes. The invoice comes as an attachment in a pdf file to your email. You can then pay securely online with a credit card, or ach payment, or mail a check through the regular mail. It saves a lot of time and effort and paper. If you have an email address and would like to sign up for email billing drop me a line at service@tjslawncare.com and we will get you on the email list. have had a LOT of problems with the mail losing paper check payments. I am averaging 1 to 2 lost payments per month. Sometimes they show up weeks or months later, but mostly they just get lost in transit. I do not know why there is such an issue with the post office in Ypsi, but it is a recurring problem. Signing up for email billing/online payments is the best way to avoid that.
- I also have been doing email updates when there is a need to communicate with all the customers. I do not intend to use that regularly, but every so often if we are behind or something important comes up, I like to be able to get in contact with as many people as once. Signing up for the email billing will get you on that list and insure you are getting these occasional important announcements.
- I do not intend for us to work on July 4. Hopefully the weather cooperates with those intentions. If we are behind due to rain or weather, we may end up working that weekend. If you know you are going to have something special in the yard that day, let me know ahead of time so we can avoid or work around that.
- Thank you!
